At County Road Burger Company (www.countyroadburger.com), we believe that a burger is more than just a sandwich - it's an experience. Nearly 50 years ago, a small burger joint (Denton County Independent Hamburger Company) opened on the historic Downtown Square in Denton, Texas. The little place probably couldn't seat more than 30 people, so within the year, we had moved to a bigger building on the square where we could seat 100 people. The legend had started.
This iconic Denton burger story was the vision come reality of Sonny Painter in 1977. In 1980, long time Denton resident Kim Kitchens purchased the restaurant and the legend grew under his guidance for the next 38 years. In 2018, Kim turned over the reins to Mike Barnett, another home grown Denton name, who is steadfast to keep the tradition going of serving up the best handmade charbroiled hamburgers, hand cut skin-on French fries, and homestyle kettle cooked pinto beans served in a clean courteous atmosphere.
Now, we are taking our burger deliciousness to more people in more cities with our franchising opportunity.
